i deleted twitter so i'm back on substack
let me explain to you why i deleted twitter.
You read the headline: I finally deleted Twitter.
Let me tell you why.
Twitter and I go way back. I've had an account since I was 13—half my life spent scrolling through tweets, engaging with communities, and, let's be honest, weathering a fair share of Twitter storms.
In the early days, Twitter opened up a whole new world for me. It was where I discovered my love for music, connected with like-minded individuals, and engaged in conversations that broadened my perspective. But as the years went by, something shifted.
Fast forward to now, and Twitter feels like a different place. The platform, once a source of connection and discovery, has become a cesspool of negativity and toxicity. The constant barrage of hateful rhetoric and divisive discourse takes a toll on my mental well-being.
I reached a breaking point—a moment of clarity where I realized that the supposed benefits of staying informed and connected on Twitter no longer outweighed the detrimental effects it had on my mental health.
So, on a Wednesday night, I made the decision to deactivate my account and bid farewell to Twitter—for good.
It's been a month since I pulled the plug, and I haven't looked back. Sure, there were moments of hesitation and nostalgia for the sense of identity I had cultivated over the years. But in the end, the peace of mind and mental clarity I gained far outweighed any sense of loss.
In a world where social media often blurs the lines between connection and chaos, I've found solace in platforms like Substack—a space for meaningful discourse and genuine connection.
Welcome to my corner of the internet. Here's to new beginnings and a future free from the shackles of toxic Twitter feeds.
